1804 George III Bank of England Dollar

£795

George III (1760-1820), Bank of England Dollar of 5-Shillings, dated 1804, toothed border both sides, laureate and draped bust facing right, no stops in CHK (Conrad Heinrich Kuchler) on truncation, legend reads GEORGIUS III DEI GRATIA REX. Rev, Britannia seated facing left, in her left hand a spear her arm resting on shield, small K to the left of the shield, in her right hand an olive branch within a crowned oval band reading FIVE SHILLINGS DOLLAR, outer legend BANK OF ENGLAND inscribed, date below (S. 3768; Bull 1925; ESC.144).

A beautiful example of this most intriguing issue,  which was struck as an emergency issue because of the shortage of silver due to the Napoleonic wars using captured Spanish 8 Reales. Upon closer inspection some under typing from the original host coin is visible and overall better than extremely fine, with an alluring tone.
