1635-6 Charles I Tower Mint mm Crown Unite
Charles I (1625-49), Tower Mint under the King (1625 - 49) Unite m.m. crown, group D, bust 5, crowned bust left, rev. crowned oval garnished shield, crowned c and r each side (S.2692; N.2153)
Light tone with some lustre, very sharp and well defined with several die striation marks in the obverse field.. This die variety not in Brooker or Schneider and staggeringly with the eyebrow of the King visible (we note this same detail of the mm crown Unite held in the Ashmolean Museum). Close to EF in grade and rare in such condition. Certainly a candidate for those of Third Party Grading persuasion.
*We have noted a huge increase in prices over the past year or so in Tower Mint Unites of Charles I with TPG heavily influencing this trend. Prices for examples in holders graded AU53 - MS62 range between £7500 - £17000 hammer
