1632 - 33 Charles mm Harp Halfcrown

£695

Charles I (1625 - 49), Tower mint under the king (1625 - 42), Halfcrown, type 2c, mm. harp, crowned figure of king on horseback l.eft, shouldering sword, rev. oval, garnished shield of arms, CR at sides (S.2771)

An intriguing example of this early horseman. The equestrian portrait staggeringly sharp and three dimensional. Even such finer detail as the hair on the horse still visible. The reverse and parts of the obverse legend porous leading us to assume the coin must have been struck with rusted dies or poor silver ore, nevertheless a charming and very nice piece in hand.
